Take one impressive building, consisting of three separate rooms with different functions and making sure that everyone feels welcome. In a nutshell, that was the challenge when renovating the EAST restaurant section of Hotel Casa in Amsterdam.

The new design of the dining room and meeting rooms of Hotel Casa focuses on connectivity. Ninetynine was responsible for the design. There is a central area for all visitors to stay. The focus is less on specific functions such as a bar, restaurant or check-in area. Instead, the entire space has been turned into a living room with modern and colorful furniture.

Mixture of styles

The story of Casa starts with four students and a mission. Casa was founded in the late 1950s with the aim of solving the housing shortage among students. By making the rooms partially available to hotel guests, Casa can still provide students with affordable accommodation to this day. This provides a unique and inspiring mix of people. The interior is an eclectic mix of styles, textures and shapes that go back to Casa’s student roots: consider the new common room as a large student lounge that can serve as a place to relax, work, study or eat, depending on the type of visitor, their mood or time of day. The bar is a central and important element in the design. It connects the different areas and functions. It is the heart of space where coffee is served on the reception side, while it functions as a hotel bar on the side of the restaurant. Visit the website.
